WELCOME TO WESTBOROUGH
Westborough is a town located in Worcester County Massachusetts, 12 miles east of Worcester and 29 miles west of Boston. It has access to Route 495 and Route 9 for ease of commuting. It is surrounded by the towns of Northborough, Southborough, Hopkinton, Upton, Grafton and Shrewsbury. The town’s commuter rail station provides easy access to Boston and Worcester.
Westborough is home to 18,272 residents with a land area of 21.62 square miles.
The town is governed under the New England open town meeting system, headed by a five-member elected Board of Selectmen. Westborough was incorporated in 1717.
Westborough is popular for its numerous bodies of water, including Lake Chauncy, Mill Pond, Lake Hoccomocco, and the Westborough Reservoir. Lake Chauncy offers boating and fishing, as well as a public beach for swimming.
There is an abundance of outdoor recreation in Westborough, including excellent golf at the Westborough Country Club. The Assabet Reservoir and Fay Mountain area offers miles of recreational trails. The Westborough Recreation Department hosts numerous sports and wellness programs for the entire family.
Westborough continues to retain a small-town feel, thanks to annual community events such as Taste of the Boroughs, the Spring Carnival and the Fourth of July Block Party.
Westborough enjoys a strong local economy, with high-tech Westborough, Massachusetts employers like IBM, PFPC, Bose Corporation, American Superconductor and EMC Corporation.
The Westborough public school system was rated among the top school systems in Massachusetts by Standard and Poor’s School Matters report in 2005. Westborough High School received a Silver ranking by US News & World Report in 2014. The quality of education, along with local amenities and lifestyle, helped put Westborough on CNNMoney’s list of “Best Places to Live” twice in the past several years.
